- 14.2%
- median days to sale (30-day sales)
- 7.1 days
The short answer
In September 2026, 14.2% of 18,651 single-unit eBay US listings from 173 FlowLister sellers sold within 30 days, against 12.2% pooled in the May to September baseline. Seller-balanced, the two periods are level (19.2% and 19.3%), so the pooled rise most likely reflects who was listing. Median time to sale was about the same (7.1 days against 7.5). Fewer sales closed below list: 62.7%, down from 68.1%, and the drop shows in both Best Offer groups. Price and category show the widest pooled gaps: 8.4% under $15 against 34.1% at $100 to $249.99. Photos, title length and listing day showed no direction once we held the seller constant. More item specifics still did not help.

What changed against the May to September baseline?
The eBay Listing Data Study 2026 covered 33,638 listings from 242 sellers published May 15 to September 14. This report takes the same method and applies it to one calendar month, so the two are comparable, with one caveat: the study's last two weeks overlap this cohort.
| Measure | May 15-Sep 14 baseline | September 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Listings | 33,638 | 18,651 |
| Sellers | 242 | 173 |
| Sold within 30 days, pooled | 12.2% | 14.2% |
| Sold within 30 days, seller-balanced | 19.3% | 19.2% |
| Median days to sale (30-day sales) | 7.5 | 7.1 |
| Sold within 24 hours (share of 30-day sales) | 16.3% | 15.9% |
| Sold below list price | 68.1% | 62.7% |
| Median discount when below list | 23% | 23.1% |
| Median list price | $19.99 | $19.99 |
| 90th-percentile list price | $55.00 | $59.99 |
| Median item specifics filled | 16 | 15 |
| Median photos | 8 | 7 |
| Best Offer on (share of listings) | 73% | 77% |
Read the pooled rise with care. Seller-balanced, September (19.2%) and the baseline (19.3%) are level. The pooled number most likely rose because the mix of who was listing shifted toward sellers with higher rates; the largest seller's share of listings fell from 19.9% to 8%. The drop in below-list sales, from 68.1% to 62.7%, appears in both Best Offer groups (75.2% to 71.4% with Best Offer on, 50.4% to 40.6% with it off). The median discount when a sale was below list barely moved.
How fast did eBay listings sell in September 2026?
Among September listings that sold within 30 days, the median time to sale was 7.1 days. A quarter sold within 2.2 days and three quarters within 15.6 days. 15.9% sold inside 24 hours, 48.9% inside the first week and 71.2% inside two weeks. Put another way, 71.2% of the sales that happened in the first 30 days happened in the first 14.
The pooled rate is 14.2%. The average seller's own rate is 19.2% (sellers with 5 or more listings, 137 of them). 3,079 listings sold at any point before 2026-10-30; 2,642 of those inside 30 days.
Did cheap items sell faster on eBay in September?
No, again. Listings under $15 sold within 30 days 8.4% of the time. Listings at $100 to $249.99 sold 34.1% of the time. Seller-balanced, the gap holds: 11.3% against 37.7%. The baseline showed 8.6% and 27.6%. The gap holds seller-balanced, so it is not one big seller.

Median days counts only listings that sold within 30 days. Seller-balanced is the average of each seller's own rate (sellers with 5+ listings in the row, shown when 20+ such sellers exist).
The median September list price was $19.99. The 10th percentile was $8.99 and the 90th was $59.99.
How much below asking did eBay items sell for?
62.7% of September sales closed below the final list price, by a median of 23.1% when they did. 2.7% closed above list. With Best Offer on, 71.4% of sales were below list (median discount 24%); with Best Offer off, 40.6% (median 20%).
Pooled, Best Offer off had the higher 30-day rate in September (17.7% against 13.2%; seller-balanced 22.2% against 18.5%), with the same median days to sale. The baseline showed no gap. We could not run the within-seller comparison this month: too few sellers listed both ways. Sellers who turn Best Offer off may simply price or source differently, so do not read the pooled gap as a Best Offer effect.
| Best Offer | Listings | Sellers | Sold in 30 days | Median days | Seller-balanced |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Best Offer on | 14,313 | 148 | 13.2% | 7.1 | 18.5% |

Best Offer is the setting when we pulled the data, not necessarily at the moment of sale. We see the final sale, not the offers.
How many photos should an eBay listing have?
Pooled, single-photo listings sold within 30 days 6% of the time and listings with 13 or more photos 14.5% of the time, but one seller makes up most of the single-photo row. The median September listing had 7 photos.

Same seller, both ways
Across 39 sellers with at least 10 listings each way, "7+ photos" differed from "1-6 photos" by a median of +0.7 points in 30-day sell-through, 95% interval −1.0 to +5.6, which includes zero. 51.3% of those sellers did better with "7+ photos", 48.7% with "1-6 photos".
Held to the same seller, more photos leaned positive again and again did not clear zero. Take the photos buyers need to trust the item. The data does not show that the count itself matters.

Did eBay title length matter in September?
The median September title was 74 characters and 7.5% used all 80. Pooled, titles under 50 characters sold 8.9% of the time against 15.5% for 76 to 79 characters, but one seller makes up nearly half of the short-title row.

Same seller, both ways
Across 65 sellers with at least 10 listings each way, "76-80 chars" differed from "under 70 chars" by a median of +0.5 points in 30-day sell-through, 95% interval −1.5 to +2.7, which includes zero. 52.3% of those sellers did better with "76-80 chars", 46.2% with "under 70 chars".
Same answer as the baseline: held to the same seller, the data does not show a long-title edge. Fill the title with words buyers search. The data does not show that padding it to 80 helps.
Did more item specifics help eBay listings sell?
Not by count, for the second time. The median September listing had 15 filled item specifics. Comparing listings from the same seller, listings with 16 or more specifics did worse than listings with 10 or fewer by a median −4.1 points, and the interval excludes zero.
Same seller, both ways
Across 43 sellers with at least 10 listings each way, "16+ specifics" differed from "10 or fewer" by a median of −4.1 points in 30-day sell-through, 95% interval −7.0 to −1.9. 25.6% of those sellers did better with "16+ specifics", 72.1% with "10 or fewer".
This is the one within-seller result that cleared zero in both the baseline and September. The count may track the kind of item more than listing quality; this data cannot separate the two. Fill the specifics buyers filter on. Don't chase a number.

What this report could not measure
- Best Offer and pricing-against-comps, within seller. Fewer than 20 sellers listed both ways in September, so those two paired comparisons are suppressed. Pooled Best Offer rows are shown above with that warning.
- Crosslisting sell-through and markdowns. Under the 20-seller floor.
- Offers received and accept rates. We see the final sale price, not each offer.
- Views, watchers and promoted listings. Not part of this cut.
Methodology
Population. Single-unit eBay US listings created with FlowLister and published to eBay from 2026-09-01 through 2026-09-30 (UTC), by sellers on the eBay US marketplace whose eBay order sync succeeded in the last three days before 2026-10-30, so a missing sale is a real non-sale. Multi-quantity listings (434) and sales matched to an earlier listing of the same item (79) are excluded. 18,651 listings from 173 sellers remain.
Sold within 30 days. An eBay order matched to the listing with a sale time no more than 30 days after the listing went live. Every listing in the cohort had 30 days of exposure before the data was pulled on 2026-10-30, give or take the final hours of September 30.
Listing attributes (title, price, condition, category, item specifics) are the values at the moment of publish. Photo count is the number of photos on the listing when it was generated. Best Offer is the listing's setting when the data was pulled.
Sold below list compares the item price the buyer paid, excluding shipping and tax, to the listing's final list price.
Within-seller comparisons. Pooled rates mix sellers, and sellers differ more than listings do. For each comparison we took only sellers with at least 10 listings on each side, computed each seller's own difference in 30-day sell-through, and report the median difference with a 95-percent bootstrap interval. An interval that includes zero means the data does not show a direction.
Baseline. The May 15 to September 14, 2026 cohort from the eBay Listing Data Study 2026, same method. Its final two weeks overlap this cohort.
Privacy. Every number was aggregated on the server before export. No row with fewer than 20 sellers or 50 listings is reported, and suppressed rows carry no counts. Rows where one seller is 40% or more of the listings are marked.
Limits. One month of observational data from FlowLister users, not a random sample of eBay, and FlowLister users skew toward volume resellers of used apparel. Month-to-month changes include changes in who was listing.
