1. Real eBay sold-comp pricing — not AI guesses
The single biggest mistake amateur listing tools make is “AI pricing” that hallucinates a number from thin air. Real sold-comp pricing pulls recent sold listings from eBay's public Finding API (when it returns data), a ScraperAPI HTML fallback when the API rate-limits, and the Browse API as a final net. A good tool then applies relevance weighting — a Burberry wallet comp trained on Burberry-branded sales, not knockoffs that flooded the SERP. Listings published via the newer Inventory API can end up with locked fields in Seller Hub, which means if you want to relist or tweak, you're bounced back through the tool's UI. Guessed prices mean you either overprice (items sit) or underprice (you leave 20–40% on the table). Always ask the vendor where their pricing data comes from. 2. “Unlimited” plans that throttle API calls
Any listing tool advertising “unlimited listings” under $30/mo is likely throttling either eBay API calls or LLM inference at the backend. You'll notice when your 20-item batch takes 40 minutes because the tool is rate-limited behind the scenes. Fixed-quota plans (75, 300, 1,000 listings) are more honest about what you're actually paying for.
3. Tools with Moz Spam Score 25+
Moz's Spam Score measures unnatural backlink patterns that Google's algorithms actively discount — high scores correlate with paid link schemes, PBNs, and aggressive SEO tactics that can earn manual actions.
