What eBay actually keeps, by sale price

What the data shows

• On sales under $10, eBay's fees came to a median 30.1% of the item price. In that band the median sale was $7.49 and the median fee was $2.24.
• The share falls as price rises: 23.0% at $10 to $19.99, 19.3% at $20 to $29.99, 14.4% above $250.
• Across all 3,014 sales the median was 19.6% of the item price, higher than the 13.6% headline rate.
• Why: eBay takes its percentage on the item, the shipping and the sales tax, and adds a $0.30 or $0.40 order fee. Our figure is every fee eBay reported on the sale, so for sellers who use Promoted Listings it can include ad fees.

How we measured

Sales of eBay listings created with FlowLister, March 30 to October 15, 2026, where eBay's Finances API reported the fees for the order. Fee is the total marketplace fee eBay's Finances API reported for that sale (final value fee, per-order fee and any other fee eBay attached to the sale). Item price excludes shipping and tax. The label figure covers labels bought through eBay only.
